Truck Maintenance Cost Per Mile
Cost per mile is a planning metric, not a repair quote. It helps owner-operators decide what to set aside before the next invoice arrives.
How to calculate it
Add maintenance, repairs, tires, PM services, fluids, towing, and inspection correction costs for a period. Divide by miles run in the same period. Keep the calculation separate from fuel, insurance, permits, and driver pay.
- Use actual invoices when available
- Use planning estimates for new authorities with limited history
- Review the number monthly and again after large repairs
